How long does it take to build a website?

The timeline

For a single-page site, plan on about a week from the day I have your service list, your towns, and your photos. A full site with separate service and town pages runs two to four weeks, mostly because of the writing. Each page needs real content, not the same paragraph with the town name swapped.

What slows it down

Almost every delay I have ever had came from one of these:

• Waiting on photos. Real job photos beat stock every time, but they have to come from you.
• Not knowing the full service list, or changing it halfway through.
• Nobody knowing who controls the domain name.
• Review rounds that sit for a week.

What I need from you on day one

Your phone number and email, the list of services you want calls for, the towns you cover, ten or so job photos, and the login for wherever your domain lives. With those in hand I can start the same day.

Your old site stays up the whole time

Nothing changes for your customers until launch day. I build the new site on its own address, you review it on your phone, and when you say go, the domain switches over.
